What We Believe – Kehilat Tsion – קהלת ציון

Our Beliefs

The entire Bible (Law, Prophets, Writings, and New Covenant) is the Word of God and is our sole authority for all matters of faith and conduct.

Deut. 6:6-7; 8:3; 18:15-22; Josh. 1:8; Ps. 1, 19:7-11; 119; Is. 40:8; Jer. 31:31-34; Matt. 4:4; Luke 22:20; Acts 17:11; 1 Cor. 15:3-4; 2 Tim. 3:16; Heb 1:1; 4:12; James 1:25; 1 Pet. 2:2; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; 3:16.

We believe in one God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This one God has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit).

Gen. 1:2; 1:26; Exod. 3:6; Deut. 6:4; Ps. 45:7; Is. 9:6; 48:16; Matt. 22:36-38; 28:18; John 1:1,14; 10:30; 14: 16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 8:6; 2 Cor. 3:17; Heb. 1:2-9.

Yeshua of Nazareth is the Messiah of Israel, Lord and Saviour of the world, and the one and only Son of God. Yeshua was born of a virgin, died for our sins, was buried, and rose again from the dead on the third day. He has been exalted to the right hand of God and will return visibly and personally to judge and rule the world.

Gen. 3:15; 2 Sam. 7:14; Ps. 2:7,12; 22:16-18; Prov. 30:4; Is. 7:14; 9:6; 42:1-4; 52:13-53:12; 61:1-2; Jer. 23:5-6; 33:14-16; Dan. 9:24-27; 12:2-3; Micah 5:2-5; Zech. 12:10; Matt. 1:1, 18-25; 24:27; 25:31-46; Luke 1:26-38; 24:25-26; John 1:1,14, 29; 3:16; 14:3,6,9; 2 Thess. 1:6-10; Heb. 1:3; Rev. 21:11-15.

Man was created good, but chose to disobey God, and thus fell under God’s condemnation. Salvation is initiated and accomplished by God alone and is applied to individuals through faith in Messiah Yeshua. True faith will always result in good works. While those who do not believe in Yeshua are capable of doing good works, these works do not merit salvation. Man is incapable of saving himself.

Gen. 1:26, 31; 2:16-17; 3:17-19; 1 Kings 8:46; Is. 53:1-12; 64:6; Hab. 2:4; Matt. 7:22; John 3:1618; 6:44; 14:23; Rom. 1:17; 3:21-20; Eph. 2:1-10; Titus 2:14; James 2:14-26.

All true believers have been given the Ruach HaKodesh from God. Believers are empowered by the Ruach HaKodesh for righteousness and ministry.

Ps. 51:11; Joel 2:28-29; Matt. 3:11; Acts 1:8; 2:4,33; Rom. 8:9; 1 Cor. 12:4-11.

The Law of Moses is a precious gift from God to the Jewish people. It reveals God to humanity and His requirements for humanity, though specifically for the nation of Israel. While it was never a means of salvation, it was designed to lead people to the Messiah. In Yeshua the Law is fulfilled. Under the New Covenant the Law is written on the hearts of all believers. God’s covenant with the people of Israel through Abraham has never been abrogated. Through faith in Yeshua non-Jews have been made fellow-heirs of the commonwealth of Israel. In Yeshua Jew and Gentile are one. This does not preclude the continuance of the Jewish people and their distinctiveness in God’s plan. This distinctiveness continues to exist in Yeshua without necessarily disturbing the unity of all believers.

Gen. 12:1-3; Exod. 20:1-7; Ps. 19:7-11; Jer. 31:31-37; Matt. 5:71; Acts 15:19-21; 16:13; 18:18; 21:20-26; 28:17; Rom. 3:21-30; 7:12; 9:4; 10:1-4; 11:28; 14:1-15:6; Gal. 3:19-22; Eph. 2:8-22; 3:4-6; Col. 2:16-17; Heb. 7:12; 8:13; 10:1-18.

At a time known only to God, all the dead of all ages will be raised. The righteous to eternal life, and the wicked to eternal contempt.
