Rosh Hashana 5783

On Monday, September 26, at 10:30 am we plan to celebrate the Feast of Trumpets – Rosh Hashana! Come on this holy day to hear the sound of the shofar, and possibly enjoy some apples and honey to commemorate our wishes to each other for a sweet new year.

We will also have some apples, honey, and seasonal foods in our Kiddush this Shabbat, September 24.

Following this little oneg, those who desire to do so will go to Still Creek for tashlich to symbolically cast our sins away. This is a tradition of recommitment to the Lord and his ways. We commemorate the words of the prophet Micah (Micah 7)

Who is a God like you,
pardoning the sin and overlooking the crimes of the remnant of his heritage?
He does not retain his anger forever,
because he delights in grace.
He will again have compassion on us,
he will subdue our iniquities.
You will throw all their sins into the depths of the sea.
